Congrats!

Incidentally, I just listened to your podcasted interview on NPR about your book last night. Sounded great! Going to be able to read Um soon (now that school's out for summer).

OTL This is an emotican which we use to express "I am overwhelmed by what you said or you acted". You can see it looks like a person who kneels with his hands and head on the ground. "O" is his head, "T" is his body and hands, "L" is his knelt legs and feet. But we use this between friends in a jokey way, so it may not suit your friend's situation.

Welcome to Maine, Michael! And welcom to Munjoy Hill. I'm a neighbor and a good friend of Hannah's.

You should stroll over some time and meet me. I'm not an "um"mer.

I was given a mantra by someone really close to me.. but here lately I've wanted to tattoo the words in Sanskrit on my body.. only after I know the actual translation. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

This is what the Sanskrit Institute sent to me..

Lakshmii - goddess of prosperity

mahaa-rai - great wealth

mad-desha - my place, region, country

ca- and

hale - in a plow / in deformity , in ugliness

mathinaa - with lightning / a churning stick

maa - mother / me / do not!

I mentioned to Misty tonight that the latest Okkervil River album apparently references Berryman as some sort of artistic touchstone (in addition to your beloved The Hold Steady).

I just stumbled in here quite by accident. I was a student of Marcel Wingate at SUNY Buffalo in the early 70's. Although I eventually left the speech profession, I remember many great people I met along the way. I'm sorry to hear of Marcel's death.

"It's a real page-turner, great fun. The kids are going to love it but there are some sad moments in it"

Please append this quote to your previous Moby Dick entry immediately.
