OTL This is an emotican which we use to express "I am overwhelmed by what you said or you acted". You can see it looks like a person who kneels with his hands and head on the ground. "O" is his head, "T" is his body and hands, "L" is his knelt legs and feet. But we use this between friends in a jokey way, so it may not suit your friend's situation.
